Knights of Columbus at 250

As America prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 2026, we reflect on our historical contributions to the nation and democracy.

How have Catholics in Texas contributed to the nation, celebrated our contributions, and celebrated our patriotism through our faith? This exhibit will explore examples from the Texas State Council of the Knights of Columbus, which celebrate what it means to be a Catholic citizen.

The photograph above was taken around the same time the Knights of Columbus Supreme Council supported the Pierce v. Society of Sisters Supreme Court Case in Oregon. This case granted parents the choice to educate their children in parochial schools and is still celebrated as an example of the Knights supporting religious liberty.
